College Football TV Viewing Guide (The Midday ACC Watching Ed.)

It's that time again ... what games to watch this weekend on the tube ... if you can't be there. A really, really weak weekend of viewing. For me it's all about the ACC games, Carolina-GiT, TCU-Klempson and of course the place where $EcSPN Gameday should be ... Miami-VT. f$u and NC State also have games of interest. All of these games are either nooners or 3:30, which is awesome. Since I will be doing some charity work Saturday night, dealing blackjack with Dirt, we lucked out and got a week where all the best games are at 3:30 and the 8pm game is shitty. Last year, we missed the Nebraska game ... ugggh!

This is not an impressive list of matchups, in what honestly has been a downish 3 weeks of football. Where are the great teams? Where are the stars? Though there has been a couple awesome finishes ... I witnessed one. I don't want this to be like '07 where a good, not great LSU team won it all (2 losses) but it is looking that way.

Please Hokie fans ... I know it's a midday game but .... act like THIS!

The BCO Games to Watch

Thursday, September 24th
Ole Miss (-3.5) at Souf Cackalacki 7:30 pm espn
The Rebels are the better team with better talent, but Souf Cackalacki is more battle tested (State and ugga) and playing at home. Ole Miss has been a bit underwhelming as has most other top teams. Will this be the week that they get it going? The ole ball coach, well he needs a signature win this season and this is likely his best chance, UT does not count, has to be a top 15 team and UF or Bammer is unlikely. How much longer will he stay if his team is 6-6, 7-5 every year? Confidence factor, medium.

Saturday, September 26th
UNC (+2.5) at GiT noon raycom
The second most important game in the ACC this week. The Jackets need this much, much more than Carolina. The problem is their offense is in the shitter with another good, even better defense ready to get in their grill. The lack of passing game is starting to hurt GiT, the book is out there on how to beat them with the current pieces Coach Paul Johnson has on this team. I am curious to see if UNC continues to find playmakers on O. WR's stepped up in a big way last week vs ECU but was that fluky or just the beginning? Confidence factor, medium.

South Florida (+14.5) at f$u noon espnu
With USF QB Matt Grothe out, this game has lost some luster in the media's eyes, not mine. This is in fact why I think USF will play them closer. The noles after an impressive, impressive win in Provo is bound for a let down, especially given the circumstances. Believe this, USF will be pumped and will want to prove themselves here ... now. They are chomping at the bit to play at f$u, da U or UF and now they get their chance. New QB B.J. Daniels can pass and run, he could surprise. A Nole loss would not surprise me. Confidence factor, low.

Cal (-5.5) at Oregon 3:30 pm abc
The best team in the Pac10 ... the Cal Bears with the conference's best player, Jahvid Best. A flat out stud. Oregon after getting (then giving) a beat down by BSU has won 2 very ugly games over Purdue and Utah. QB Masoli has looked like ass at the qb position, the OL is a mess and the rb position is in worse shape than it has been in years. Cal should win handily as they are getting overlooked right now, but they ... not the Trojans will be the conference champion this year. Confidence factor, high.

TCU (+2.5) at Klempson 3:30 pm espn 360
How this is not on cable channel but the espn interwebs channel is a joke. If this Klempson team were coached by Tommy, it would not make the list cause a loss was imminent. Dabo has certainly got them playing tougher and a bit better and they have a chance. I can't pick them but they should have better athletes and be able to make it a defensive struggle. Parker is getting better and better and is going to have a great career for the Tigers. If you can get it on you computer have it up while watching the Hokie game. Confidence factor, low.

Miami (-3) at Virginia Tech 3:30 pm abc
First lets get this out there, VT can not win without 1, likely 2 td's scored or setup (inside the 15) by the defense or special teams. CAN NOT. The O is not there and won't be there against a defense with kind of athletes (even if the Hokies have that caliber as well.) Bud's D is shaky, DT Graves is likely out or ineffective with a bum ankle, so this does not look good. 1 sack, 0 hurries is the stat line for Jacory Harris' OL. Incredible. VT has 1 sack or something small. Ruh-roh. Couple that with poor tackling and being out of place on D is really hampering this unit as well. The Hokies will tackle better and will get a mileage out of being a home dog, but in the end the poor O won't be able to get it done. If there were a nite game ... man, it would be a tougher pick. By the way if Miami wins they will be the Coastal champ with only UNC left on their sched of the contenders. A must win for VT. Confidence factor, high.

P.I.T.T.s at North Carolina State (-1) 3:30 pm espnu
2 average teams in 2 poor BCS conferences. A bragging rights game, sorta. Hey, your conference sucks worse than ours. I am taking the home team and the team coached by Tom O'Brien over Wanny any day of the week and twice on Saturday. Interested to see if Russell Wilson can go off on the Panthers, I gotta feeling he will. Confidence factor, medium.

Iowa at State Penn (-10) 8:00 pm abc
THE WORST Saturday night game of the year (sorry mmmmongo.) State Penn is fine but Iowa is a trifling joke, they are built for the noon, shitty Big1+10 $EcSPN timeslot. Who let them play at night? Last year the Hawkeyes upset the Nittany Lions to deny them a shot at the MNC game beat down by Florida (Thank God.) Matter of fact Iowa plays State Penn very, very well having won 6 outta the last 7. It will not be 7 outta 8. Joe PaPa's squad is gonna beat them like a drum, BLOWOUT. Confidence factor, high.
