PG - chrissy collins, a punk ass who lived off his dad's name & isn't even liked in Durham SG - jj reddick, a sorry, foul mouthed "religious" poet, who loved to be hated, congrats it worked SF - dahntey jones, a thug, cheapshot, trash talking punk, he must have hated all his teammates PF - lee melchionni, no skill, talent, trash talking PoS, who could flop like no other C - christian laettner, pattened the Vick stomp, but got in 0 trouble w/the holier than thou kusser
6th man - greg paulus, current no talent push off, floor slapping jerk off, who gets teabagged often.
Til the BCO wears it out in Blacksburg for the doook vs VT game. Thanks to Hokie Guru for hooking me up with a ticket that doesn't cost a dick and a nut. Bull and Bones after, say 7:30ish. They just tapped their 77 ibu 6.8% IPA yesterday. You know what I am ordering first.
VT with a very good RPI and conference win tonight in lil John. Beating Clemson doesn't happen much for VT. Like NC State, the Tigers usually beat the Hokies in roundball. Unlike State, these games are always close and few instant classics. 80-77 Win, nice. VT had to work for it.
VT Defense - best it has been in 6+ games, looked above average. Davila looked better on that end tonight. Shut down KC Rivers, that's not easy.
Free Throws - ouch, this really, really could have cost VT the game, luckily Clemson was nearly as bad.
Rebounding - some good tough rebounding, tonight, pretty impressive
Press - They handled it fairly well, though I'd like to know why Press teams get way more leeway when fouling the offensive players than regular defenses?
AD - got hot early in the 2nd half and kept VT in the game, his FT's and early game runners were also key
MD - not the 37 point out burst a few weeks ago, but very solid and got hot in the 2nd. Stud.
Thorns - I lied he had another 3 and it took 3 games not 8. played very solid, scored some and handled the press fairly well.
Booker - deserves to be first team All ACC, I mean he get Hansbrough calls, so he must be right? Really, he's a very good player.
Ogelsby - he should have gone to doook, long range and punk
Stitt - nice, nice compliment to the Booker and the bombers, he slashes well
officials - they still suck and still inconsistent.
Sets up a huge doook vs VT game on Saturday at Cassell Coliseum at 3:30. Can't make it ... it's on ABC HD. Can make it, let's go drinking after.
VT is 7-6 in the ACC with games at home vs doook, UNC and away game vs f$u. Win 1 and 2 tourney wins, they are a lock for the big dance. Win 2 and they are in, i feel as well. That would be 2 more top 25 RPI wins. Will it happen? Ida know, I think VT can get 1, 2 is going to be pushing it, but you never know.
Charity Casino Night. Good times, craps, black jack, and roulette lots of Peninsula eye candy.
The Tap House - Hampton, my favorite beer Hop Rod Rye on tap. Beer in Control ... Weihenstephan Vitus, was quite tasty. Soon Victory Casked Storm King.
SN Torpedo Extra IPA now in the 757. A good beer, but not amazing, though i reserve the right to change my mind after I finish the sixer. Missing Centennial hops, BCO thinks.
My weight is down 19 lbs even after a few drinks Saturday Night. Jason is likely going to beat me, but he has to earn. No free rides. 12 lbs to 190, College only saw that my frosh yr. If I knew it was this easy, I would done this years ago when I was less fat. haha.
1 week 'til doook at VT. At this point beating their white asses may be all I can hope for.
The sweet (well sorta sweet) VT soft-shell jacket I got for 36 bones.
Corporal punishment administered to the 3 year old. A lil pop on the bottom and her attitude straightened up.
VT losing again. That's a bad, but failing to even play with energy for the first 15 mins in a must win game vs f$u is the UGLY.
2 of my final 4 Great Divide Titan and Green Flash West Coast IPA's lost in the first round of the 09 National IPA Championship. Link here. Ouch, I don't even do that poorly in the real tourney. I did pretty well other than those 2. :(
Ok, I hate when VT loses to uva but ... what I hate more is I am not sure the team can rebound and make it to the NCAA big dance. Poor D, name a team in the ACC who is worse defensively, no low post game (Jeff Allen is too small to scare most post defenders,) no heart, no leadership, no offense outside of 3 guys. Hell, maybe Dave Odom was right and VT isn't going to win anymore games.
Here is the remaining regular season schedule Sat 2/2t vs f$u (borderline top 25 team) Wed 2/25 at Clemson (a top 10 team) Sat 2/28 vs doook (a top 15 team) Wed 3/4 vs UNC (a top 2 team) Sun 2/8 at f$u (again a borderline top 25 team)
All are top 25 RPI teams, all will be dancing and all are better than the Hokies. That doesn't mean VT can't win, just means they gotta playe extremely well.
BCO thinks VT will win 1, maybe 2 but unless they make a deep run in the ACC tourney will be NIT bound, again. By the way, that Sylven Landesberg kid for uva is a stud and will be a pain in the ass for the ACC for many years to come. Hoo fans can rest easy, he isn't NBA material, well at least not coming out early material. He will be 1st team all ACC by next season.
Ok, ok ... stupid wars, pork masquerading as stimulus, multiple unsurpervised bailouts, insanely expensive inaugurations, etc are all stupid gubment expenditures dropped on the American public, namely GenX and GenY ... but the BCO found one that he trumps them all.
$49.61 tax on each barrel of beer produced by Oregon brewers
damn, that's a huge number.
The bill's language defends the tax by arguing alcoholism and “untreated substance abuse” costs the state $4.15 billion in lost earnings as well as more than $8 million for health care and nearly $1 billion in law enforcement-related expenditures.
uh, huh .... those numbers seem awfully high, like the lawmakers.
Oregon ranks 49th among states in its malt beverage taxation rate, which has not been raised in 32 years
Ok, so Oregon doesn't get a lot of cash from a BOOMING brewery industry, but to get all of it in one shot + a few more decades taxes as well?
“If that tax is passed it would mean consumers would pay $315 million more (in 2009) to buy the same amount of beer they bought in 2008," De Kalb claimed. "A pint of beer would go from $4.50 to $6.”
Wow, that's an increase of a 1/3rd of the beer's price.
Rep. Ben Cannon, one of the bill's sponsors, questions whether the true hit to consumers would be as high as beer makers claim. He told KGW his office measured the increase at 15 cents per glass not $1.50
Some gubment moron who needs cash, so he makes some uniformed decision or he forgot to carry a 0.
a keg at the store, is really a half keg. let's say that keg cost a 100 bucks, so that's $200 for a barrel of beer. Add another fitty to that price and this turd, ben cannon thinks that will only add 15 cents to the beer? It's increase of 25% to the brewery and then the bar increases the price even more so they can make their current margin.
Oregon is a great, great state for breweries, big, small, cutting edge, etc ... it's in their culture. Only Cali and Colorado rival them, in my opinion. So some jerks want to damage this business because they fail to make the correct decisions on what needs to be funded. A dirty a little secret regarding politicians, they only know how to spend, they DO NOT know how to save or be frugal, regardless of party. Anyway, if this passed and I lived in Oregon that would push me to drink more beer produced outside the state and homebrew more often.
Another thing, this will hammer any beer that is exported to other states. Good sixers already run $9 or more, you can add a good $2+ to any Oregon beer. This could result in a loss of jobs. Well thought out there suits.
Nothing compares to college sports but I do enjoy watching the other pro sports. The NBA for many years (well since the Badboys) was awful to watch, even the Jordan era was wide open or crisp passing basketball that the 80's Lakers and Celtics gave the fans.
The game was bogged down and over coached. Point guards who had been playing basketball at high levels for 20 years always had to slow down the game, look to their coach for the play. Boring. Defense ruled the day. Boring. Clutching, grabbing, bumping ... all legal unless you were a star.
Then the perfect storm hit the NBA. The no hand check rules on the perimeter (MJ would have averaged 45 a game in his prime had those rules been back then) and Steve Nash to Phoenix joining Mike D'Antoni's wide open 7 seconds or less system. Highly entertaining and highly flawed but compared to the boredom of the other good teams Spurs and Pistons, it was a Godsend. Up and down the court with long, athletic players (save Nash) and other teams naturally had to play that way. Who the hell doesn't want to play that way save the Spurs (well Mr. Longeria you know does.) Especially in the regular season and even in the post season (unless you were the Spurs) teams ran with Phoenix, even if their coaches begged them not to do that. It was fun to watch as point routinely went over 110 and often to 120 a game. They looked like professional ballers, scoring should look that easy at that level.
Well we all know Mike D. left this past summer for the Knicks as his time in Phoenix was up. Terry Porter was hired in his place and soon he will get canned too. The new style of play instituted by Porter is hated by the fans and players save Shaq. Rumors of Amare Stoudemire, Shaq and even Nash being on the trade market abound. Avg record (now outside the playoffs) and high payroll (cheap owner, doesn't want to pay the tax) means someone gosta go. A disaster in the desert.
While the 7 seconds or less style was a flawed way of playing that likely would have kept them from getting a ring, let's look at the circumstances just a bit to see why the Suns never got a fair shake. By the way the Sports Guy does a much better write up of this, he is paid to be better obviously. His column here.
What kept the Suns from getting their shot at the ring
2005 Amare, Nash, Marion, Joe Johnson, Quentin Richardson and Barbosa are the main cogs.
Joe Johnson stud Wing gets injured in the playoffs, Suns are not at full strength and can't beat the Spurs. Note, Amare absolutely tuned Tim Duncan that series but he wasn't enough. Johnson was a huge piece and the difference. They were a shock to the NBA at this time and in my opinion this was their best chance, til the injury. JJ didn't like being 4th fiddle, even though he avgd 17 pts a game and is traded for Boris Diaw and a draft pick to the ATL Hawks.
2006 Nash, Marion, Raja Bell, Barbosa, Diaw, Tim Thomas and Eddie House
Amare Stoudemire has microfracture surgery and the team still plays great but just doesn't have enough size to beat the Mavs. Most wide open Suns team due to their size. Lots of 3 balls. Boris Diaw plays great and gets a big contract but ....
2007 Nash, Stoudemire, Bell, Barbosa, Diaw, Kurt Thomas and James Jones
Diaw who looked great in 06, looked mediocre in 07, he and Amare couldn't play well together, both need the ball in their hands, 1 to shoot the other to pass. Amare is only bout 85% of what he was before the surgery, looks a little thinner. Playoff downfall jobbed by Stern. This was the Diaw and Amare suspended for 1 game due to leaving the bench when Robert Horry flat out cheapshotted Steve Nash at the end of game 2. Suns lose game 3 barely and eventually the series. Game 1 went to the Spurs as well but a extremely bloody nose kept Steve Nash from playing the last minute in a tight game, cause the wound would not close.
2008 Nash, Stoudemire, Bell, Barbosa, Diaw, Grant Hill and Marion/Shaq
Stoudemire and Marion were both angry and pouting they could not share a locker room together. Marion had to go ... they brought back BCO fave Shaq for him but ... he was so anti-7 seconds or less offense that the fun n gun Suns died that day.
Not saying the Suns should have won a title in 05, 06 or 07 but bad breaks, injuries and David effing Stern never gave them a fair chance. By Thursday with Amare gone, Nash way past peak and Shaq the team's best player the 7 seconds or less offense will be a memory long gone. I will remember it fondly. I don't even blame them for trading Amare. He is sour in the lockerroom and refuses to play defense. Might as well implode and start over. Steve Kerr your tenure as the Suns GM has not been good. Hiring Porter is what we at work call a big, big mistake a RGE ... Resume Generating Event.
Good news, I won't be tired at work staying up late for the Suns late nite TNT playoff games anymore. :(
Lil Suns and Shaq fun at tonight's NBA game. First the intro, then later nutmegging Dwight Howard with a pass to CP3, returned to the Big Cactus for a dunk. Nice.
pregame .. Terps in the fugly Yeller Unis, VT road maroon unis ... looks like Redskins colors, bad juju for this Hokie. Ex Deac's coach Dave Odom, the Raycom analyst said VT may not win ANOTHER ACC game. What?!? He must be confusing VT with the other ACC school in Va. Dave, you asshat, your son is a bench coach for the Hokies. Moron, no wonder he never won it all with Tim Duncan leading his team.
1st half 18:35 always bad when Neal makes a jumper Nice matchup defense by the Terps early Jeff Allen with a stupid foul ... AGAIN, less than 3 mins into the game. My 17 month old is more entertaining than the Hokies right now. Down 7 early, watch Maryland bomb 3's all day, THE worst 3pt shooting team in the ACC why are the Hokies fool bench players dancing? Matching Neal, Witcher with a back down in the lane, turn around J, he's NEVER done that, then a DUNK! Nice layup to the left by Delaney, he wants 1st team All ACC Ugghh, 4/8 for 3 bombs and they are a bad shooting team, 304th in D1 3pt % ... not today BCO wonders how many Fbombs Gary has dropped so far, can't be too many, he hasn't sweated thru his suit yet. foul, what foul ... here, have your eyeball back MD Vasquez is NBA ready, his whining is top notch, he can't be more prepared than he is now Halftime: 34 MD 29 VT could have been worse VT looked bleh on O and D for a lot of the game. Credit Gary's Williams and his gameplanning. Seth needs to make sure the Hokies guard Milbourne and Vasquez, let Neal beat ya. lol. 2nd half Cheap foul on Delaney, makeup for Vasquez, end of the half? Vasquez with a walk, no call, layup. AD missing a dunk, sigh. Need Jeff Allen to dominate these small or slow forwards. damn, did I just say let Neal beat Tech? 3 bomb, then Vasquez, what a shit, he's all douche trust that. How come shitty 3pt shooting team bomb VT 3-4 times a year? 1 thing for Clemson to do it, but Maryland? Not looking good for Monty, HG and whoever other BCO friends that are there to walk out happy today. G should be ecstatic. VT really does have below avg ACC defense, that's not good for future games Vasquez with the walk first, then fouled by Tech ... home job. VT looks confused on O, still ... 13 mins to play. Nice 3 pt play ... off the missed FT, rebound by JA. Tech down 6. Sloppy play by both for a bit, til AD scores a 3 ball, VT down 3 .. 48-45. Another 3 ball by the Terps, then another score by Milbourne + the foul. sigh 54-45, the run dint last long. Delaney silent this half, did draw a foul but missed 1 of 2 FT's Veteran move by AD to get a 4th foul on Vasquez, 8:32 left MD 7 pt lead MD's D has been pretty damn good all game, mixing it up. Thorns with a 3 ... nice, will be another 8 games before his next one. MD by 6. Neal is a battler, he should be getting owned, gotta respect his hard work. Jeff Allen fouled, no called, giving the little defenders leeway. A chump Terp gets a call seconds later for less contact. Milbourne just HAMMER dunked Vassallo then posed. I would have floored him as he was going up. Delaney keeps slipping, 4th time, what is up with that? Hurt, shitty shoes? A cheap call on Jeff Allen, both were banging, guess home court gets the edge. This game looks OVER, 13 pt lead with 4 mins left. Jeff Allen shocks the world commits a bad foul, fouls out, then flips off the MD student section. He'll get in trouble for that. I am sure some POS terp fan will deride him, IRONY. Maryland running it up now, nother Thunder dunk by Milbourne. What the refs called a foul on a terp in the 2nd half? thanks. Milbourne throws elbows, foul on the hokies, makes sense. good comedy now. 2nd Half VT 1 million fouls, MD 3, all on Vasquez ... so it seems. VT called off the press with 30 seconds left down 13. Game Over Well that SUCKED. i hope my friends make it out alive. Congrats G. time for the BCO to drink heavily.
I bitched about the shitty home favoring refs, but that is not why the hokies lost (though it didn't help.) Better coaching, better energy and shockingly better 3 point shooting beat the Hokies today.
Bad News This was an important game, the last 5 are tough and the easier games are must wins. Now UVA has to feel good about beating the Hokies, especially if Allen is suspended for a game. At least he didn't bump a ref this time. Sigh. Maturity will be an issue for him until he is 40.
Good News The team is leaving college spark and going back to Blacksburg.
American Farmhouse Ales Handbuilt, Homegrown and Handcrafted in beautiful Floyd County Virginia
Both a Farm and a Brewery, we produce much of the hops, honey and grains used in our beers. Brewed in small batches, our unique beers will please, refresh and inspire.
6 beer styles to start Altbier Wheat IPA Rye Stout Brown
Production to start soon, seems the religious right has held them back a lil, since Floyd is way the hell out there in Conservative Country. Blacksburg will certainly get a lot of their beer. BCO is very excited and hope they succeed and can't wait to try their beers, specially the IPA, Rye and Stout. Good luck.
National IPA Championship presented by Great Lakes Brewing
64 IPA's ... hop it out to 1. Last year Green Flash Brewing Co. West Coast IPA took home the prize. The BCO is beergeeky enough to have the results of each round emailed to him. MMMMM, hops.
The Link is here, if a hophead ... go, participate.
Great Lakes Brewing News is thrilled to annouce the 2nd Annual National IPA Challenge. As with last year, participating IPAs from across the nation will be randomly chosen for a 1:1 single elimination bracket tournament. Winners of the first round will advance to the next. BCO Final 4 favorites are: Great Divide Titan IPA - (darkhorse Pearl Street Caskastrophe) Founder's Red Rye PA - (darkhorse Bear Republic Apex) Green Flash West Coast IPA - (darkhorse Great Lakes Commodore Perry IPA) Bell's Two Hearted IPA - (darkhorse Brewkettle Production Works Red Eye IPA)
Realbeer link here. The dual party ass clowns might actually do something to help out us Beer drinkers ... via helping the brewer's themselves. Not sure how the BCO feels about this since I think 70% of the stimulus bill is horseshit, this looks like it may actually give some relief to breweries. Either way it's beer news.
The Beer Institute and the Brewers Association today applauded members of the United States House of Representatives for the introduction of H.R. 836 the Brewers Excise and Economic Relief (BEER) Act, which effectively returns the federal beer excise tax back to its pre-1991 level of $9 per barrel.
“There is strong, industry-wide support for this legislation, and we thank Congress for its bipartisan effort to institute tax fairness for one of the most productive sectors of the American economy,” said Tom Long, President and Chief Commercial Officer of MillerCoors, and Chairman of the Beer Institute. “We commend Reps. Earl Pomeroy (D-ND) and Tom Latham (R-IA) for their leadership on this important issue, and we urge Congress to help provide relief to low- and middle-income families and businesses in America’s brewing community by passing this legislation as quickly as possible.”
Today, there are over 2,053 brewing companies in the United States operated by national brewers, regional brewers, regional craft brewers, microbrewers, and brewpubs. These job-creating businesses are in every state in the nation. In fact, a majority of Americans live within 10 miles of a brewery. In addition to reducing the tax burden on large brewers and beer importers the legislation introduced today provides specific relief to small brewers by reducing their tax burden from $7.00 to $3.50 per barrel.
North Carolina's Pisgah Brewing Pale Ale - 22oz Bombers
Link here and here. Nice new updated website by them. As Will as confirmation, Pisgah's pale ale is very, very good. One of the top 2 Pale Ales, I have ever had and I will have to find a way to western NC to pick some of this up in bottled bomber. Last and only one was in a brewery poured growler.
Weyerbacher Echo could be a BCO fave ... it's a Rye-PA. I need to get to Pennsylvanina quick!!
“A Deep-Copper Rye-PA”
We have timed the release of Echo to coincide with Philly Craft Beer Week (3/6-3/15). We will be taking part in events nearly every night throughout the Philadelphia Area, including the suburbs, and plan to feature Echo at most of them. Keep an eye on the website for a full list of events. You also have a chance to find it in Maryland, Western PA, Boston, NYC and parts of Florida. A very limited amount of 12oz. bottles will be available at our Visitor’s Center as well.
It will be a 6.8%, 60IBU IPA, brewed with pale, crystal, carapils, and 30% rye along with a good dose of Simcoe and Centennial hops. This deep-copper ale combines the citrus kick of the hops with the spicy twang that comes from 30% rye malt. It is a Winter IPA to bridge the gap between now and Spring.
The beer should be available in the Visitor’s Center on Saturday, March 7th.
mmmm, Weyerbacher does a good job with Simcoe and Centennial is a IPA staple (think 2 hearted an Stone brews.) Having drank and brewed Rye beers, 30% Rye is a Large amount in the grain bill. I bet I don't get a shot at it, but I would trade do a Hop Slam beer trade for it.
Beer Bullets
Sierra Nevada Torpedo IPA is out and getting very good reviews. I have not had it yet.
Just another day in ACC basketball play, where 20 point leads aren't safe, top 10 teams can lose to bottom of the standings members and the losers bitch about the officiating. Got 2 outta 3 this day in Blacksburg with a lil twist ... the winners bitched about the officiating too.
If I were a wolfpack fan, coach or player I would be jacked and what a crappy 2nd half of officiating they got today in the OT loss to the Hokies. Not to be outdone, I am a Hokie fan and i am pissed at how shitty they were in the first half. You see, everywhere but Durham when you are getting jobbed by the refs one half, it's likely to change the 2nd half when the refs stay the same but the basket you shoot at changes. Today was no different. From reports I got, it was 2 refs who just sucked it, usually it's just 1 and that's why it was especially bad today. BCO is just glad they aren't reviewing the last 1.9 seconds on the on court tv as I blog. 5 effing times they had to go to it and watch their ineptness.
It certainly was not all on the refs that VT got behind by 18 (in the 2nd half) or that State choked it away. Both teams had long, long stretches of poor play on Offense and Defense.VT got abused by anyone who could post up. Hell, fat Sidney Lowe could have backed his ass up on every post defender the Hokies had and made the shot + the foul. Just the same, State had more turnovers than the school of the blind and had issues guarding A.D. or anyone else on the perimeter going to the rack.
The Hokies still have serious issues in half court defense and offense, but you know, who the hell doesn't? There are no great teams anymore, sorry UConn, sorry UNC, you have faults too. Seth in all his F-bomb ways is doing the best he can with a flawed roster. He himself is not perfect but anyone who is jacked at him, probably needs to look at the coaches VT has had the last 25 yrs or so and tell who is better.
HG called the win, we talked yesterday, both of us expected an ass whipping, but State is just one of those teams that has the Hokies number, like Pitt in football from the late 90's til VT leaving for the ACC. Luckily, no more wolfpack games this season unless the Hokies face em in the ACC Tourney.
So the Hokies sit, 5-3 in the ACC at the halfway point. That is good enough for 3rd place, if they go 5-3 with another top fitty win, I don't see how they aren't dancing. That said, this is not a given. Any game the big 0 can committ about 5 stupid fouls and really crush the Hokies 3 headed monster.
2009 All ACC Douche Bag Team, well I am going to hold off on that, the season is still going on, but you can count on Greg "I like nuts on my chin" Paulus on the list.
I will do an All Time ACC Douche Bag Team but that is going to have to wait until the week of the doook @ VT game, since the majority of the lineup will be populated by PoS's from Durham. May have to have a 2 deep for this one.
A lil piece I wrote last week for Southern Pigskin, in state rankings ... my unqualified opinion.
Let's cut to the chase, 40+ % of these guys will either fail out, not be motivated (cough) Allen Stephens (cough) or just not be good enough. Who the hell knows which 8 that will be. Grade: B
The class needed 2 quarterbacks, not necessarily 2 stud qb's, but 2 true qb's not guys who played it in high school. 1 Stud QB and the class could have been an A-, avg prospect B+. No qb's, a B is the max.
This class went heavy, heavy on the D, spefically ends and backs. A typical under the radar class that the big boys laugh at stars wise but the program was built on these type of guys. Virginia first! Hearing character wise the last 3 classes have been excellent. Gotta love the low knuckle head factor (cough) Leon Mackey (cough.)
I will say the top 3 O players can be difference makers.
Logan Thomas - WR or TE or Hback or QB. Will start out at WR but with his frame he will be 250 before I finish my next beer. I can see him at Hback by his soph year and doing some of what Boooooone does now in the wild turkey, soon after. If he has to play QB, that would not be good for multiple reasons, namely not his best position and more importantly VT is hurting at the pot.
David Wilson - At worst David will be the 3rd worst back in Blacksburg next year as true freshman. UF came in the last 2 weeks trying to steal him, saying he would be the next Percy Harvin (they tell everyone that.) Fast, with some power. in 2010 the rb depth chart will look like Darren Evans r-jr, Ryan Williams r-so and David Wilson r-fr. Wow. State Champ in the triple jump.
D.J. Coles - Big, big play wide receiver. If he develops then in a year or 2 this wr crew could be better than the group that left last year. Can VT take advantage of this talent?
The QB Tech didn't get - Kevin Newsome, Bryn Renner or Tajh Boyd, this spot is theres and I am not giving it up for some OL prospect. This hurts.
Telvion Clark - A tackling machine, almost 300 tackles and 17 sacks in the last 2 seasons in h.s. Fast and now is wrestling for fun in the 215 weight class. He is 23-1. He has wrestled since 8th grade. He will be a star, the X man cometh again?
DeAntre Rhodes - VT got the 2 best DT's in the state in Rhodes and Wang. Rhodes is the prototypical DT for Bud, short, quick and strong. Give him a couple years then get use to him A LOT.
Antone Exum - Could be a corner or safety, I think Safety (see below.) A great athlete, h.s. QB (another guy that shouldn't be QB and if he is ruh-roh) who may end up being a FS (play caller on D) or even a nice Rover. Stud basketball player.
Jerrod Williams - best corner in SC, stud. Could have been Jayron Hosley a top corner in Florida. These 2 guys are going to push hard, starting this year. Seriously these 2 with Eddie Whitley may be dominating WR's by 2011. DBackU isn't going anywhere.
Theron Norman - Another former QB and WR but will start out at FS. Will he stay there or bulk up like Aaron Rouse and Kam Chancellor and be a 6'3" 220 hammer at Rover (Kam's best position?) Just gotta feeling he is next.
Andrew Miller - A big guy who moves well and is a very, very good wrestler. So good, VT initially wanted him to wrestle with his brother on VT's ranked Wrestling team in 2009, so he could come in for the 2010 season. That has been changed, he will be football only in the fall. I love these type athletes. FSU offered, their OL coach is very good and he liked Miller too.
James Gayle - Tall, rangy ... Chris Ellis without the cheap shots? Needs to bulk up badly.
Duan Perez-Means - Underrated athlete, played WR this past season as well as DE. Needs to bulk up as well. Basically I could have put Tariq Edwards and Tyrel Wilson on here as DE. This is not including the best prospect Lanford Collins. Wilson and Edwards could be LB. Bunch of medium jumbo defensive athletes.
2 ? Marks
Tyrel Edwards - Close to same measurables as his twin brother Tariq but a whole lot less production. Will be a TE at tech and will take a long time to see the field. Will greyshirt.
Kory Gough - Lightly recruited by big schools, reminds me of a misses. I hope I am wrong. Coaches think he will be an OT and has the feet for it. Will greyshirt.
